'Going for Bronze' - a musicianship training programme for children, is being taught to all classes between primary 3 and primary 6 this year in Barsail Primary School. Music is taught through singing, pitch and rythm games.
Primary 1 and 2 are also enjoying learning many singing games.
In addition to 'Going for Bronze' some classes have been learning and performing music which is related to their class topic.

Primary 1 and primary 2
|
|
These classes have been learning about and performing various percussion instruments which are in the music room. They have been discovering what they are made of, what they are called, and finiding out if it can make long or short sounds.

Primary 2, primary 3/2 and primary 3
|
|
These classes have been learning songs and percussion related to their Dinosaur topic. These musical items were performed at an open afternoon on 10th December 2009.

Primary 4
|
|
In term 3, primary 4 will be learning songs in relation to their 'Unsinkable Ship - The Titanic' topic.

Primary 5/4 and primary 5
|
|
Primary 5/4 and primary 5 have been singing 'The Candy Man' and 'The Chocolate Song' which complimented their class topic about 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.

BASE
|
The Percussion Group meets every Thursday from 3:15pm - 4pm.
Each week the pupils learn and play the xylophones, glockenspiels and chimebars. Sometimes they play together as one big group, or have the opportunity to play a solo or duet.
Term 1 - Lazy Bossanova was performed at an assembly.
Term 2 - Jingle Bells was performed as the Christmas Assembly.

Primary 7

Primary 7 have been learning how to read and perform music which is written on the stave (the stave is the name given to fice lines which music is written on).
